Creating Holiday Traditions Since 1917

Traditions are an important part of childhood.

Since its inception in 1917, Boys Town has always focused on giving kids opportunities they otherwise may not have had….especially during the holidays.

We asked generations of alumni to recall how those traditions shaped their lives.

Norman remembered Christmas dinner in 1929 with Father Flanagan at the table. Allan cherished Midnight Mass in 1953, when decorations were unveiled. Dennis recalled cottage decorating competitions in 1964, while Steve loved hearing the choir sing in 1987. Janelle, in 2003, laughed about a midnight snowball fight with her Family-Teachers. And Tyler, in 2022, shared how Boys Town transformed Christmas from sadness to love, laughter and belonging.

At Boys Town, Christmas is more than a holiday. It’s a tradition of hope, joy and family that endures across generations.

Christmas 2025 Will Continue This Legacy
