Recently, Boys Town North Florida youth got treated to a backyard barbeque by a local design and engineering firm, Halff Associates. Volunteers from Halff Associates grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and participated in games, including kickball and cornhole.
The barbecue event was the result of April Banta’s, a graphic designer at Halff, efforts to reconnect with Boys Town. Several years ago, April volunteered for an organization and saw an opportunity to involve Halff Associates nonprofit organization, Halff Community Initiative, in supporting Boys Town. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to give back, saying that she has “always had a big heart for helping youth that are going through hardship.”
Overall, the barbecue was a great success in bringing together volunteers and the Family Home Program youth. The event not only provided a fun day for the kids, but also demonstrated the power of community involvement and giving back.
Halff Associates hopes to host more events at the campus soon to raise awareness about the challenges that some youth face, and the importance of giving back to the community. “I am grateful to work for a company that encourages and facilitates giving back. Halff's financial donation, along with the Backyard BBQ, is hopefully just the beginning of how we can help.”
