FedEx Delivers Holiday Joy to Boys Town Foster Care Kids

Foster care kids in Central Nebraska are feeling extra merry this holiday season after a special delivery from FedEx employees at the Grand Island hub.

After recently moving across the street from the Boys Town office, FedEx employees hosted a giving tree filled with twenty-five gift tags. “The tags were all for kids in our foster homes and for some of them, this will be their first time celebrating the holidays,” said Megan Andrews, Senior Program Operations Director for Boys Town Central Nebraska.

Gifts ranged from clothing to tablets to toys, but what was gained, was the greatest gift of all. “We can’t share pictures, but I wish I could show you how much their little faces light up,” said Andrews. “One of the FedEx employees got the cutest snowman snow globe and knowing this kid’s story, I can just see her being so excited over having her very own snow globe. These little things can be so big for our kids!”

The kids weren’t the only ones to take away something bigger than a simple present under a tree. “We did this instead of an employee gift exchange,” shared Michael Olson, FedEx Ground Senior Manager at the Grand Island hub. “It was nice to be able to help neighbors in our community who really need it. That’s why we do what we do. We can’t wait to do it again next year.”

A very special thank you to Carla Maurer, FedEx Ground Operations Manager, and Olson for coordinating the giving tree and present delivery to make it all happen for the kids.

You have made some kids very happy" exclaimed Andrews. “Thank you so much!”
