Boys Town In-Home Family Services volunteers for our eastern Nebraska area had the opportunity to serve with The United Way and OPPD volunteers at the Shine Bright Event, August 7, in Omaha.
The cooperative effort assisted in packaging thousands of hygiene kits for schools across the Omaha Metro Area. All came together to pack and prepare the kits for distribution. The OPPD group was already busy fixing the Metro area’s power issues just a week after the huge storm, but it didn’t dampen the spirit for the event.
We danced, sang and laughed together all morning, feeling grateful knowing these kits would likely serve some of the same youth and families we assist each day. We feel blessed to have been a part of this opportunity and look forward to volunteering with United Way in the future.
