As of early 2025, Boys Town Louisiana is excited to welcome three new board members and a new Development Director to our team.
Board Members:
Kelsey Bonnaffons
Boys Town Louisiana welcomes Kelsey Bonnaffons to its Board of Directors. An attorney at Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith, Bonnaffons joins a dedicated group of leaders committed to supporting youth. A New Orleans native, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Tulane University. She is also actively involved in community service, supporting Take Paws Rescue and Galloway’s Hogs for the Cause.
Michael Chauvin
Boys Town Louisiana welcomes Michael P. Chauvin to its Board of Directors. As vice president of sales at NOLA.com/Times-Picayune, Chauvin oversees print and digital revenue streams, driving strategic growth. His career includes leadership roles at The Post and Courier and Summerville Communications, with a strong track record in marketing and revenue expansion.
Chauvin is also deeply involved in community service, having held leadership roles with the Greater Summerville Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, Summerville Family YMCA and Charleston Home Builders Association. He holds a business administration degree from Montreat College and an associate degree in information systems from Southwestern Community College.
Shelita Mundy Jones
Boys Town Louisiana welcomes Shelita Mundy Jones to its Board of Directors. A New Orleans native, Jones brings extensive experience in education and a strong commitment to youth empowerment. Currently serving as chief academic officer for New Orleans Public Schools, she leads instructional strategy and academic programs. With more than 20 years in education, she has held leadership roles as a principal, director, curriculum specialist and school counselor.
Jones holds degrees from Southern University A&M College, Loyola University New Orleans and the University of Holy Cross. Her expertise in education and mental health counseling will support Boys Town’s mission to help children and families thrive.
Development Director:
Emily Starr
Emily Starr joins Boys Town Louisiana as the new development director, bringing a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, community partnerships and philanthropy. She previously served as development director for The Salvation Army New Orleans Area Command and as manager of development and strategic partnerships for 826 New Orleans.
Before transitioning to nonprofit work, Starr spent 10 years as a sociology instructor and professor. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology and remains passionate about social impact and community engagement. In addition to her role at Boys Town, she co-owns a local event business, Blue Book Barkeeps, and volunteers with Nourishing Louisiana, supporting food security initiatives across the state.
