On World Health Day, John Etzell, Executive Director of Boys Town Nevada, joined ARC Las Vegas to highlight how everyday habits—like healthy eating, regular movement, and getting enough sleep—play a big role in a child’s well-being.

These simple steps don’t just support physical health; they also improve focus, emotional regulation, and school performance. Encouraging children to eat fruits and vegetables, spend time outside, and stick to a good sleep routine helps build a strong foundation for their overall development.

Since April is Autism Awareness Month, Etzell also spoke about the importance of early understanding and diagnosis when it comes to autism. With 1 in 36 children in the U.S. diagnosed on the autism spectrum, he emphasized that not every child has the same strengths or challenges. The sooner families can identify a diagnosis; the sooner they can access the support and resources their child needs to thrive. Boys Town Nevada works to connect families with those essential services—because every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
