Many people don’t realize the same hotline number they see advertised on TV when they can’t sleep at 3 a.m. is part of an organization that’s over a century old. For more than 35 years, Boys Town National Hotline (1-800-448-300) and its services have been answering the call when children and parents need immediate assistance.

One of the most critical needs the Hotline meets involves teens who have decided to hurt themselves or take their own life, but who at the last minute reach out to one of our Crisis Counselors in a desperate cry for help. In thousands of situations, our Crisis Counselors connect with young people from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. Territories, providing a caring ear for their problems and often saving lives by taking action to stop potential suicides.
The Hotline has Spanish-speaking counselors and interpretation services for other languages available 24 hours a day. Hearing-impaired youth and parents can communicate with counselors by emailing hotline@boystown.org. But best of all, the Hotline provides access to services for EVERYONE with no need for insurance, no co-pays and no waitlists – just immediate help when a child, teen or parent needs it!
Beyond crisis intervention, the Hotline talks youth through difficult times, helps them see the hope of a brighter day and most importantly, can put them in contact with over 25,000 human service agencies nationwide.
YourLifeYourVoice.org is a website created by the Hotline specifically for teens where they can text, call, email or simply read about other teens facing the same issues they are, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems and friendship problems.

The need for the life-changing and life-saving assistance the Hotline provides is critical, far-reaching and more common than you might imagine. In 2023, the Hotline answered 93,442 calls and 17,801 web contacts nationwide, including territories and some calls from Canada. Since 2022, the Hotline has also been fielding calls for the national 988 suicide hotline.
