Boys Town to Show-Off New Research Vehicle

For Immediate Release – Tuesday, July 12, 2022

Boys Town, Neb. – Boys Town National Research Hospital’s new Research Vehicle (BTRV) marks a new era in research for Boys Town. It will increase capacity to help kids across Nebraska and Iowa. This stateof-the-art vehicle will allow health professionals to travel to community health fairs, schools, and special events to reach those who have not typically had access to hearing, language, and speech screenings and research. Fitted with advanced equipment to test hearing, speech, and language this mobile research lab is wheelchair-accessible and climate-controlled.

“We created the Boys Town RV so that more people can have the chance to participate in research in their community,” said Dr. Lori Leibold, Senior Director of Research at Boys Town National Research Hospital. “We know that many groups have been underrepresented in health research, so we are excited to be able to park a research lab anywhere”.

Our BTRV will travel across the states of Nebraska and Iowa, building relationships with community partners. Boys Town community partners will help find a place to park and spread the word about the chance to participate in research.

The Boys Town Research Vehicle was funded by the National Institutes of Health under a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI).
