In Boys Town In-Home Family Services,^SM trained Family Consultants work with families that are struggling to stay together or are in danger of having a child removed from their home. No matter what the underlying cause – economic hardship, substance abuse, marital issues, family conflicts, health challenges or others – the goal is to keep children in the home, or to reunify them with their family if they have been removed from their home. Consultants work right in the parents’ home to help them improve their parenting skills by providing teaching and guidance. Family members learn how to create a safe, nurturing home for children, and how to use resources in the community to help them solve problems on their own. Consultants are on call 24/7 to provide support and assistance. The length and intensity of services depends upon a family’s needs and the specific situation.
